6 Ways To Make Every Workday Feel Like Saturday

Any work environment, (save for maybe the military), can benefit from a little softening of the hard edges that we’ve grown accustomed to in the business world. More realistic expectations and a more casual approach to work can actually help us become more productive.

If you recall the Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon video from earlier this month (if you don't, then see our previous post here).

Well, Jimmy Kimmel's response video to Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon kicks it up a notch!

WTF or Brilliant?

We live on a block with two Indian-owned convenience stores, so when we buy groceries or supplies, they are always blasting cool Indian dance music...

Saw this on Youtube and couldn't resist posting...the video is bizarre, the beat infectious...and I don't understand a word of the lyrics!

Funny: Davey Dance Blog

I came across Davey Dance Blog a few months ago - and was amused at the simple concept of this guy dancing around, listening to his iPod and filming it. INGENIOUS!

Davey Dance-BLOG. A project started while traveling Europe during Spring 2007. Armed only with an ipod and a Canon PowerShot, Davey picks a location and a pop song. Then Davey records an improvised dance.

Here are some highlights:

Davey Dancing In Paris

Davey Dance Blog -6- PARIS - Katerine - "Apres Moi" from Pheasant Plucker on Vimeo.

Davey Dancing In Rome

Davey Dance Blog -5- ROMA - Peter Bjorn and John - from Pheasant Plucker on Vimeo.

Davey In Barcelona

Davey Dance Blog -12- BARCELONA - I'm From Barcelona - "Treehouse" from Pheasant Plucker on Vimeo.

Davey In Amsterdam

Davey Dance Blog -16- AMSTERDAM - Jackie Wilson - "Your Love Is Lifting Me (Higher)" from Pheasant Plucker on Vimeo.

Davey in Mainz, Germany

Davey Dance Blog -21- MAINZ - Simian - "Never Be Alone" from Pheasant Plucker on Vimeo.
Like this song from Justice vs. Simian "we are your friends"

And of course, Davey dancing in New York, on the Brooklyn Bridge

Davey Dance Blog -26- BROOKLYN BRIDGE - Ace Frehley - "NY Groove" from Pheasant Plucker on Vimeo.

From Old Skool to Old Spice....

Love this May 2007 commercial for Old Spice featuring sci-fi/B-movie man-god Bruce Campbell!!

Old Skool Kung Fu - Levi's Style

This Levi's commercial for the European market features Dustin Nguyen (remember 21 Jump Street?!):

Dustin's little known martial arts expertise was showcased when he starred in the Levi Jean's European “Hero” campaign, which expanded upon his ever-growing international profile. The campaign was uniquely ground-breaking in that it was the first time Levi's used an Asian lead in their popular role of the “Levi's Hero.” For Dustin, it offered the first opportunity to combine his love for martial arts along with his dramatic training, when he collaborated with the director on the fight choreography. Neither wonderful nor delicious: another NYU dorm

(curbed.com)

Came across this on Curbed.com

"Uh, definitively cancel all those rumors and reports that the legendary Gramercy Green on E. 23rd Street and Third Avenue is going to Irish buyers and investors, which was already seriously in doubt. The shock is actually in the outcome: it turns out that the building is going to NYU freshmen. The Villager drops the bomb that Irish eyes will not be smiling in the 21-story building, but that NYU is picking up the entire building for dorm space. The word comes via the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation's Andrew Berman, who says, "I am glad they chose this route, rather than what they did at the St. Ann’s/12th St. site, which was to try to shoehorn another megadorm into the neighborhood." An early version of the plan had the building being one-third condos and two-thirds dorm, but maybe it was a little hard to sell even overseas money on a condo with NYU dorms. Is it God's hand at work in the background or just part of the overall master plan?"

Gotta love European commercials

Unfortunately, something like this would never air in the United States.

Tony Soprano lives on!

Although the Sopranos is over as a television series -- James Gandolfini in this TV ad for American Airlines is so Tony Soprano-esque.

Enjoy!

First taste: Shoolbred's

First taste: Shoolbred's
Originally uploaded by .edward

Walking back home I came across the open doors leading into the less than two weeks old pub Shoolbred's. Named after a department store in Scotland, Shoolbred's offers warm pub atmosphere, multiple taps (10 on initial count, including my current fave draft Smithwicks) and features over 36 whiskeys!

I enjoyed a great 2-for-1 (rare on a Wednesday night in bar land) and they will be offering British pub fare soon!

So Shoolbred's, welcome to the East Village!

Props to T-Mobile customer service

Giving credit when credit is due, I just want to give a big thank you to T-Mobile's customer service: on the phone and with their servuce reps in-store!

I was experiencing problems with my six month old T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur S620). When I thought it was a battery issue, I went to the T-Mobile store in Greenwich Village and got a replacement battery - FREE!

When it proved to be more than a battery issue, I called T-Mobile customer service and after explaining the issue, they are sending me a replacement Dash! So thank you T-Mobile!

Chappelle's Show classic!

We really miss Chappelle's Show -- one of the funniest comedy skit shows during its short 3 year run.

Favorite Superbowl Ads

We have to admit, Superbowl 42 was a thrilling game! Congrats to the NY Giants for a great upset of the New England Patriots, 17-14.

Of all the commercials they played during the Superbowl (yep, advertisers paid $2.7 million dollars to air 30-second commercials this year) - a few memorable ones stood out:

Gatorade commercial featuring man's best friend

It wouldn't be a superbowl without Bud Light!
